Keller,Texas – a wonderful place to call home.
First established as a ‘village’ near Double Springs in the 1850’s the town was originally called Athol. With the news from Texas & Pacific Railroad that they were bringing the railroad north of Fort Worth, the farm and ranch settlement began to bloom. By 1882, encouraged by the T&P Railroad the town was renamed Keller after railroad foreman John C. Keller. You can still see glimpses of times gone by if you know where to look. Check out Historic Old Town Keller area on Main Street with it’s many local hot spots, restaurants and community events as well as the handful of craftsman style homes now turned into local businesses.
Of course the water tower, at the corner of Main (US 377) and Keller Pkwy. which was originally owned by the Johnson family is the most iconic landmark. (see the full water tower story here)
Today, Keller has expanded to a population of more than 44, 000 (2017) covering a little over 18 square miles. Besides being centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth, Keller is known for it’s excellent schools and it’s amazing city wide parks and recreation systems. Don’t forget the Keller Town Center which brings an urban walk-ability feel to your shopping as well as a great selection of new businesses both retail, office and restaurants opening.
